Frenchman Edmond Chesneau began his pursuit of perfection in design in his home country under the tuition of a former Master craftsman from Hermes.

During this time, he built a foundation in the techniques and traditions of leather craftsmanship and became familiar with the best tanneries in Europe.

His interest in the nobility and use of leather came out of his passion for horses and the tactile feel of saddlery.

The experience served to fuel his interests in design and subsequently left his Parisian life for the idyllic medieval city of Kilkenny, Ireland where he has quickly established stables for himself with an atelier in 1977. Shortly thereafter, he opened his first boutique in Kilkenny and then a flagship store in Dublin where he showcases his carefully crafted namesake handbags with their signature elegantly casual styling.

Over this time he has had many accolades for his work and is a multi Award winner.

He approaches design like an Architect viewing the balance between aesthetic, functions and longevities as an essential part of the creative process.

Today, Chesneau is known as Ireland’s leading luxury leather goods house and has managed to retain the integrity associated with a prestigious niche Brand that in the true sense of luxury is “limited in its availability”.
